One of the main benefits of UHT cosmetics is that the sterilisation process helps reduce or even eliminate the need for preservatives (bactericide or bacteriostatic agents) in cosmetic products. As the bulk product is sterilised, preservatives are no longer required to ensure the microbiological stability of the cosmetic product.

The difficulty with this kind of development lies in ensuring that the formula, subject to a UHT sterilisation process, is not altered in terms of stability, organoleptic characteristics, physical and/or chemical properties and so on.
